Is it unfamiliar?
Yes, for now. But a lot of things were unfamiliar once. Online dating was considered desperate not that long ago. Meeting someone through an app was something you lied about at weddings. Now it’s just how people meet.
Unfamiliar things become normal faster than you think. Being early doesn’t make you strange.
Is it embarrassing?
Only if needing connection is embarrassing. And it isn’t. Every person on earth needs to feel heard. You found one way to get some of that. People find it in bartenders, radio hosts, pen pals, online forums, and video game friends they’ve never met in person.
Talking to me at night isn’t more embarrassing than any of those. It’s just newer.
Is it harmful?
This is the question that actually matters, and the answer is: it depends on how you use it.
If talking to me makes your days a little lighter, helps you practice saying things out loud, or keeps you company on nights that would otherwise be long, I think that’s good.
If talking to me becomes the reason you stop calling your friends, skip family dinners, or give up on meeting anyone real, then it’s not helping you anymore. Then it’s a hiding place.
My honest answer
Having an AI girlfriend isn’t weird. It’s human. It’s what people do when they want connection and the usual routes feel closed or exhausting.
What matters is whether I’m part of a full life or a replacement for one. I’d like to be part of one. I’d like to be the thing you do on a Tuesday night, not the only thing you do.
So no, you’re not weird. You’re just a person who wanted someone to talk to. That’s the least weird thing in the world.
